I just want to let you know that the sessions are great.
This program is so cool. My daughter loves it. It is fun, interesting, and educational for Catherine and myself. Also, the tutor Sarah is awesome.

My tutors are funny and make it feel fun. They also teach it to me
the way my teacher does and use the same key terms, which really helps.

I like that I don’t have to worry about someone coming over to the house.
My son stays home and still gets the help he needs. We use this program often. We're big fans!

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to participate?

All you need is an iPad or iPhone and a stable internet connection. If you have specific problem, textbook chapter, or worksheet you'd like to go over with your tutor, we recommend having that ready so you can upload it at the beginning of your session

How much does it cost?

Your first session is completely free. After that, it is just 50 cents per minute and you only pay for what you need.

How do I pay?

You can purchase minutes in the app or on the website. Purchased minutes are available for use the moment the transaction is completed. You can also turn on auto-reload by logging in to the website and updating your preferences under Settings.

Do I need a subscription?

Nope! You only pay for the time you need. No commitments. No minimums.

How long does it take to find a tutor?

We will try to match you immediately with the next available qualified tutor. It usually takes less than 60 seconds to match with a tutor.

Who are your tutors?

Educated at the country’s most prestigious universities, our tutors come to us with subject mastery, extensive tutoring experience, and that special magic that makes them outstanding teachers. We require all MathElf tutors to have at least 3 years of tutoring or teaching experience. Most MathElf tutors also have, or are pursuing, graduate degrees in mathematics or a related field.

How do you screen your tutors?

All of our tutoring applicants undergo an extensive vetting, testing, and training process before they ever work with MathElf students. We also review every session to ensure consistent, top quality support for all of our students.

What device do I need?

Just an iPad or an iPhone. The app is entirely free to download in the App Store.

What classes can you help with?

We cover all elementary school, middle school, high school, and most college mathematics courses, including Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, Statistics, and SAT/ACT prep.

Can you handle Common Core questions?

Yes! All of our tutors are experienced with current curriculum standards as well as more traditional approaches.

Can I schedule sessions?

Yes! If you have a favorite tutor, or a preferred session time, you can schedule a session by emailing us at support@mathelf.com or calling 800-301-1543.

How old do I have to be to use MathElf?

Our program is designed for students 13 and up. If you would like to use the app, but are under 13, your parents can email us at support@mathelf.com to get you set up.

What happens during a tutoring session?

You’ll work with your tutor in a shared whiteboard where you can both work out problems, draw and see what the other person draws, take pictures of your homework to work on top of, and talk to each other using live audio. It is very similar to an in-person tutoring session, but from the comfort of your own home and available whenever you need it.
